Caring for lions in need of lifelong refuge in a safe and dignified way
"I will take in any lion already in existance who is in need of loving care and protection, but I will never condone the breeding of even one more lion to live a life behind a fence.".
We have 15 lions at LLA. These lions were all born into captivity for human entertainment, ego or financial gain. None of them should be here. No matter how well we have built their enclosures nor how well we care for them, they should not have been in a situation in which they needed care in the first place.
Lions should be free
Leave our wildlife in the wild
We only give homes to lions from abused situations
MEET OUR LIONS AND LEARN ABOUT THEM AS INDIVIDUALS
At LLA our enclosures are designed to offer the lions highground from which to view the surrounding hills and valleys. They have low ground in which to find shelter. Trees to climb, logs to scratch. They have bushes to brush against, boulders to clamber upon, veld to run in and space to roam.
The physical and mental health of our cats is of the utmost importance to us. Humans have put them into captivity, it is our life mission to improve their lifestyle by giving them as natural an environment as we possibly can, one in which they get to be lions doing lion things.
Do not support the removal of cubs from their mothers
If there are cubs at a lion facility, they are breeding them for human usage!
You may have one fabulous day cuddling a lion cub. Your world may even be changed by this day. But is that worth changing the world of that lioness and her cub?
The cub will grow up
Where will he/she live then?
For how long will he/she live?
The photos you have will be all that is left of that magnificant lion. Is that price worth your picture?
WORK WITH LIONS AT ETHICAL SANCTURIES
WE CARE ABOUT THE LIONS* DIGNITY; SAFETY AND WELL BEING
Love Lions Alive is a non-profit company that runs off of donations and the income generated from having paying volunteers. The reason we have chosen to have volunteers is becuase volunteers are genuine lion lovers who want nothing more than to be a part of the healing process. They want to be as involved as their own lifestyles, jobs and family allows, which is to come to Africa once or twice a year to work with the lions as part of the LLA Team.
Having paying volunteers also means that LLA does not need to be a zoo, lion park or tourist facility. We can remain an intimate and private space for the lions with only a few real lion lovers in the lions' environment.
